A recent event dedicated to cybersecurity challenges highlighted the critical issues facing industries, particularly in the aerospace and defense sectors. Emphasis was placed on the need for close collaboration between information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) to ensure resilience against growing threats.

Given the interdependence of the military and civilian sectors, a vulnerability in one can have repercussions for the other. This interconnectedness underscores the importance of information sharing and collaboration throughout the supply chain.

An often overlooked aspect is the emotional impact of cybersecurity on individuals. Fear can paralyze operations, making a phased approach to strengthening security without causing panic among employees essential.

Furthermore, the presentation addressed Belgium’s legislative ambitions for 2029. Collaboration with the government and industry partners will be crucial, both to ensure the success of the Olympic Games and other major projects.

The growing importance of OT networks in businesses was also highlighted. Securing these networks, particularly against attacks like SQL injection, is a daily concern for organizations.

Finally, the cybersecurity talent shortage, particularly in Switzerland where 40,000 IT professionals will be needed by 2026, poses a major challenge. Targeted training programs and increased collaboration among industry players are essential to bridging this gap.

In short, cybersecurity is not just about technical solutions. It also relies on human commitment and cooperation at all levels to meet future challenges.
