Managing an IT security incident may seem like two completely different worlds to the fire department. However, when a crisis occurs, the mechanics at work are similar: rapid analysis of the situation, effective coordination, emergency action and feedback. Drawing on our respective backgrounds, Nicolas Lindt, rooted in cybersecurity and commitment as a volunteer firefighter, and Jean-François Stenuit, specialized in incident response and forensic analysis, we decided to combine our expertise to illustrate the analogy between these two worlds.
